Is there anyone down south that might need a ride or do some gaming?

It's kinda sparsely stocked with RPG (A lot of Pathfinder),and Board Games. The also sell Japanese snacks (Pocky), and a little Anime related stuff, plus card games, and maybe war hammer (not my thing, so didn't really notice)

They have 8 short tables for RPG or Boardgaming, and 4 Tall Tables, for miniature type gaming.

Open till 10 T-Th, till 12 F, Sat, till 6? Sunday, and closed Monday.

They have a working vending machine, with $1.50 20 oz pepsi products, and good air conditioning.

They have a backroom that on the grand opening they were showing anime in, but they talked about making it into an advanced RPG room.

Though if you can't tell your head from your Cthul… then there may be issues I can't really help with.

After checking various calendars and notes, I'd say we're going to be playing in 1966, starting just before the May Day celebrations, so you might want to brush up on your knowledge of the time period.

Civil rights, voting rights, Vietnam, Vietnam protests, drugs, the Kennedy assassination, the Cold War was going on, the Berlin Wall, the Cuban Missile Crisis, Malcolm X assassination, Food Stamps officially started, Medicare started, Timothy Leary is all over the news for drug use and possession of marijuana.

I'm big on learning (I know, I'm evil), so bone up on your mid-60's history and see if you can find a sixth edition CoC book to look over. I'd suggest DriveThru RPG for the core book, but that's because I like my e-books.

I noted it as closed nearly two weeks ago and with all of my RL fun, I don't have enough funds to buy up the necessary books to fully get a Call of Cthulhu game off the ground.

My wife has just informed me that, in my own best interest, the game shall be stay open, since she wants to play CoC.

Maybe I should take votes:
Either I can run this or I can run Shadowrun.

You guys can choose which one.
I'm not allowed to mix genres again, so no Call of Cthulhu 2072.
The Call of Cthulhu game would be around the 1970s: Peace, Love and Cthulhu.
The Shadowrun game would be heavily influenced by the William Gibson novels.

Oh, it's going to be a 4th Edition game.

I have many other resources for my RPGs, but I think it would be helpful if we could put all of our combined internet search resources together and make the site something people consider an important resources for their games.

I see that this game has a CCG element to it, but it looks like the CCG part is to the core set and not to individual players?

I'd love to try Call of Cthulu

I've been meaning to post a "state of the WG" for awhile. I have really mixed feelings about all this.

The hardest thing I'm struggling with is that it seems like "nobody" really wants the WG. I can't get the Chronicles guys to give me the time of day. (EDIT: I wrote that they don't post event information, but I've been paying so little attention to the site that I'd forgotten that Shaun has posted event info for the con.) I can't get my immediate gaming friends to participate.

I can't carry the effort by myself, but I also realize that I haven't been doing this right… I haven't been interacting with people face-to-face. So I start to feel like I'm doing all this for a bunch of faceless people who don't really care. In short, the WG hasn't been "fun" for a very long time. I was hoping that the relaunch around the Chronicles convention would jump-start things and it would become fun again, but it didn't.

But in writing this, I realized that I missed a couple critical pieces. I'm going to start a new thread later today and we'll see if we can turn the boat around and actually find the "fun" again.

The game shops being what they are, not sure how effective it'll be, but it certainly can't hurt - other than someone putting out the time and resources to make 'em and distribute 'em.

Sure would be nice if rumors I've heard about an awesome new game store coming to Wichita in November end up panning out.
Could be just the shock to the system this region's been sorely needing for a long time.

I'd try to drum up interest for the site, but I don't have a working car and can't get to the game shops more than once every few months.

And it's hard to drum up business for an empty site.
People will wonder into a new store, but a new website isn't something most people just wander past.

And then I found the joy of a class-less system and am now making an adjustable classless percentile system.

I want to know if the game i spend time playing is fun and can i build on that fun to create something unique. I have played 4th edition since august or so. I have found it fun, but the greatest part of it comes from the imagination and interaction with 3 or 4 people that i am proud to call friends today. All of those people were strangers before august so I think I won there.

In the end you have to make your own way and if 4E turns out to be for you then great, if not that is too bad. From your writing i get a sense that 3.5E was well received by you, i did not get a chance to play 3.5E, I was busy living, loving, and learning other things, but i have heard it referred to as a statisticians dream game. If that love for stats is a deal breaker for you then you might want to wait for 5E. 4E is not stat heavy, heck you don't even have to choose skills such as blacksmith, you just explain it in your background and get on you way playing your character.

I have also heard complaint that roleplaying is reduced with 4E. I find that statement to be a bit funny. None of these games that I have played starting with the basic edition D&D way back when and ending with 4E increased or decreased my roleplaying. I did that because that is who i am and how i play. I currently play with an actor and a writer, when you add me the natural ham well the evening becomes a great deal of fun.

So choose for yourself, a good luck.

This sounds kind of shady in it's overall logic (if it is true) and many people (myself included) would rather not play a tabletop game based on a video game.
Unless it's based on Final Fantasy, of course.

This is the first adventure I ran after 4E came out, and the final encounter - with a little help from unvanquished baddies from the previous area - sadly enough, resulted in Total Party Kill after a long and rather epic struggle…
We've since started a new campaign.

Chronicles: The Risen is scheduled for March 13th and 14th, 2010. It's at the La Quinta Inn at 7335 E Kellogg in Wichita. I'm looking for anyone interested in running some games for the convention.
